5 reasons why summer birthdays are the best.

We went to a few Covid birthday parades this year - back in April, we hitched a giant inflatable flamingo to the roof of our truck and blasted "Everything is Awesome" as we drove past our friend's house but it's now July and although life is not yet normal, summer birthdays do bring some advantages especially during a pandemic where gatherings are limited to outdoors.

So here are 5 reasons why summer birthdays are the best:

1. Because you have the time to get all the birthday freebees. Best part of working in the school system is being off during the summer and both my birthday and Nallie's birthday is in July so we had the luxury of going to Denny's for my free birthday breakfast and Red Robins for a free birthday dinner. It is a established fact that free food tastes better.

2. Because you can have a backyard BBQ.  My dear friend's parents live in Chilliwack and have a gorgeous backyard with a swing set, a tree house and farm animals. Every year, the dads all bike to 100+ km to their house while the moms chill on their patio and the kids play outside. Such a lovely way to spend my birthday. The kids even made up a fun birthday cheer (see video below!)

3. Because summer means ice cream cake. And Marble Slab makes the best ones. Chocolate hazelnut for me and raspberry cheesecake for Nallie.

4. Because you can flamingo to the beach. Chances are it's going to be a nice summer day when your birthday is at the end of July and that you can include the beach and your giant glitter flamingo as part of your party theme.

5. Because your birthday celebration can span multiple days. When you're not working, you can celebrate your birthday for as many days as you want. We enjoyed birthday breakfast, birthday dim sum, birthday sushi, birthday burgers and birthday pizza. Ha! We take celebrations very seriously.

So sorry if your birthday is in a cold and rainy month because summer birthdays really are the best and I love sharing a birthday month with my sweet girl. Happy 9th birthday Nallie!
